High yield cultivation techniques for plums

Dec 04, 2025

Plums are a sour and sweet fruit that those who like to eat do not find sour at all, while those who do not like to eat cannot accept even a little bit of sourness.

1, Plastic surgery and trimming

During the process of planting plums, attention should be paid to controlling the tree shape of the plum trees. For trees that grow too vigorously, it is necessary to promptly cut off branches that are too dense and too long, and do a good job of sprouting. In addition, it is necessary to adjust the pruning points in a timely manner according to the age and vigor of the tree.

2, Planting pollination

The number of pollinators in the orchard must be reasonably configured. If there are a large proportion of plum trees with low fruiting rates in the orchard, the proportion of pollinating trees should be maintained at around three layers. During the flowering period, appropriate bee pollination should be carried out, and if necessary, appropriate artificial pollination should also be performed. Artificial pollination is generally done with a brush.

3, Temperature control

The temperature changes of plum trees are very sensitive, so it is necessary to do a good job of site selection when planting. It is not advisable to choose low-lying areas with high water accumulation, and poorly ventilated plots can also affect the normal growth of plums. Then, during the flowering period of plum trees, pay attention to observing weather changes, and be prepared when the temperature changes significantly. Smoke can be properly smoked to prevent advection frost and water reasonably. When frost occurs, trees can be properly spray at night to reduce frost and improve the fruit setting rate of plum trees.

4, Disease and pest control

There are many pests and diseases in plum trees, many of which can harm the flowers and fruits of plum trees. Causing various adverse phenomena such as flower drop, fruit drop, and rotten fruit in plum trees. Therefore, we should also focus on the prevention and control of diseases and pests in plum trees, and enhance the disease resistance of geese in plum trees. During the peak flowering period, it is important to spray disinfectant such as disinfectant and perform proper disinfection. Then in winter, it is necessary to do a good job of clearing the garden, removing diseased and damaged plants, weeds, etc., deep plowing the soil, and destroying the overwintering site of pathogens. Corresponding measures should be taken promptly after the onset of the disease to ensure the healthy growth of plum trees and increase yield.
