Plum is a very common fruit in the market, and the variety is also very rich, such as rock sugar plum, honeycomb sugar plum, crispy red plum, and so on. Plums have a crisp taste and high nutritional value, and are widely cultivated in southern China. However, with the gradual recovery in spring, plums in some areas are also busy with marketing work. In order to increase the sales yield of plums, it is also crucial to do a good job in weeding. So how do we weed the plum tree?
1. Deep flipping and loosening
During spring and summer, the temperature is high and rainy, and the humidity in the fields is high. The weeds under the plum tree grow quickly. Due to the fact that the plum tree is not particularly deep, it is easy for weeds to compete with the plum tree for nutrients. Therefore, after picking the fruit from the plum tree, a comprehensive deep plowing and loosening of the orchard should be carried out. The depth of loosening is generally required to be around 30 centimeters, and then sufficient human and animal manure, compost, and crushed weeds should be applied to each plum tree. In this way, weeds can be eliminated while increasing soil fertility, killing two birds with one stone.
2. Disease and pest management
Disease and pest management should be combined with weed control. Plum trees are prone to many diseases and pests, and weeds are also a hiding place for many pathogens. If pests and diseases such as mealworms, gummosis, and aphids are found, corresponding prevention and management measures should be taken to avoid affecting plant growth. Before the emergence of gummosis, a stone sulfur mixture can be sprayed once, or a fungicide can be sprayed 2-3 times after the emergence; Heart eating insects can be prevented and treated with dichlorvos, dichlorvos, and pure alcohol after flower removal; Aphids can be sprayed with dichlorvos emulsion or dimethoate emulsion, or treated with dichlorvos for prevention and control.

3. Chemical weed control
If weeds have occurred in plum orchard, 250 ml of 20% Baicao water reducing agent can be mixed with 45 kg of water per mu to spray the ground weeds. If the weeds are very lush, you can spray the ground weeds with 41% double fire herbicide 200-400ml (depending on the number of weeds)+a powerful assistant with 30kg water. This herbicide is an endophytic, conductive, and fungicidal herbicide. Spray evenly and thoroughly. Weeds generally die in 7-15 days and can kill the roots of weeds.
4. Nutritional supplementation
Weeds can steal some of the nutrients from plum trees, so special attention should be paid to the fertilizer supplementation of plum trees after weeding. Especially after harvesting, it is necessary to apply a supplementary fertilizer, which mainly improves the assimilation function of the tree, replenishes its nutrients, and ensures that the plum tree still has sufficient nutrient support after this harvest. Generally, 250 grams of urea and potassium fertilizer, as well as 1.5-2.5 kilograms of superphosphate, are applied to each plant during topdressing.
Overall, weed control in plum trees is an essential part of plum planting and management. Like other fruit trees, attention should also be paid to pest and disease prevention, as well as fertilizer supplementation, while weeding. In fact, the overall technical requirements are not complicated, the key is to master the timing and usage of the medication.
